My name is Edward Cating, and I am a landscape and portrait painter based in Ridgway, Colorado. The mountain beauty here truly is sublime, and I seek to see it, paint it, and make its immensity a little more personal.
My formal training took place at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. However, I have painted since I was six, and question whether painting can ever really be taught. It’s a bit like breathing. I paint from life, photos, and imagination. My work is intimate and expressive. I am drawn to contrasts. Look through the gallery and archive, and feel free to contact me.
